Contrary to popular belief, protein shakes don’t help you reach your weight loss goals as much as they claim to. In fact, a lot of them seem more like scams than actual fat burning tools. The main reason that they might be impeding your progress is simply a misuse. A lot of these shakes have serving sizes that go neglected, or aren’t used at the proper time. Obviously, protein shakes are jam-packed of protein, which is great for you. Protein deficiency causes a lack of energy and motivation, and that can totally kill your workout routine. Making sure that you get the right vitamins and nutrients you need is essential when you’re trying to lose weight, as your body needs to be running on all cylinders to endure that much exertion. Another benefit of the shakes is how easy they are to consume. Most have pop tabs like soda cans, so you can take them anywhere with you, making them a great option when you’re on the go.
The variety of flavors means that you can choose your favorites and won’t ever get bored, so feel free to shop around. Some brands have better tasting flavors and more options; it just takes time to figure out what you like. Pack one in your bag for breakfast at work, or to enjoy at lunch. Most of them don’t even need to be refrigerated, so you don’t have to worry about them expiring in your bag if you don’t have access to a fridge. They can also be added into other things, like a smoothie or just blended with ice so it’s more like an actual milkshake.
Protein shakes are ridiculously easy to misuse. Most shakes are supposed to be ingested in place of an actual meal, which people don’t usually do. It does not go with your breakfast, and it is not a dessert. Your protein shake is your meal, and if you don’t treat it as such it’ll put you over in fat and sugar intake big time.

If you really want a healthy breakfast, make up a smoothie from fresh ingredients and protein. It’ll give you the same benefits as a protein shake while also providing you with the nutrients shakes leave out.
